The Training and Education Department has
developed dynamic and comprehensive trainings
and materials addressing the maze of often changing
health programs and services available to low-income
people in Los Angeles County and statewide.
We provide training to staff of health and social
service organizations, such as clinics, schools,
hospitals, and community agencies, who need
to know how to guide people through enrollment
and use of health care programs that are increasingly
complex and reliant on managed care.
The curriculum is presented from an advocacy
perspective and covers eligibility criteria,
the enrollment process, how to stay enrolled,
the scope of services provided, how the programs
interact (or don’t) with each other and
how to advocate for oneself and for another
person when problems exist. The forms and other
paperwork used are included.
