MCHA
assists
uninsured
families
and
individuals
by
providing
application
assistance
with
free
and
low-cost
health
coverage
programs
and
referrals
for
health
services
available
in
Los
Angeles
County.
Once
enrolled
or
receiving
services,
we
help
with
maintaining
eligibility
and
coverage,
and
with
knowing
how
to
use
the
health
programs
or
services
and
what
rights
and
responsibilities
come
with
these
benefits.
We
conduct
outreach
presentations
at
various
community
sites
including:
schools,
churches,
food
banks,
clinics,
and
work
sites.
Our
staff
is
bilingual
(Spanish),
dedicated,
and
highly
trained
to:
- Thoroughly
screen
families
(children
and
adults)
and
individuals
to
determine
for
which
programs
they
qualify
-
Provide
application
assistance
to
enrollment
programs
and
referrals
to
safety
net
services
-
Provide
extensive
follow-up/case
management
to
confirm
enrollments,
ensure
utilization
of
services
and
retention
of
benefits/coverage.
- Advocate
on
behalf
of
families
who
face
access,
utilization/service,
or
retention
(staying
in
the
program)
problems.
-
Provide
technical
assistance
to
other
agencies
needing
direction
on
how
to
handle/resolve
specific
problems
for
their
clients.
Assistance
can
be
provided
face-to-face
by
appointment
or
over
the
phone.
In
addition,
MCHA
staff
is
able
to
recognize
and
track
systemic
problems
affecting
eligibility
and
bring
attention
to
such
issues
needing
attention
from
the
state,
county,
or
administrative
bodies.
The Outreach and Education Program is funded by a grant from First Five Los Angeles through the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Children’s Health Outreach Initiative.
