Community Services program reaches out to women in greater downtown Los Angeles to provide short-term assistance, case management, health education and support.
We meet and assist women and their families with short-term problems and referrals to services, including into our case management and health education programs.
- Case management offers an opportunity to develop a longer relationship and to work with each woman individually to develop and carry out a plan that addresses the spectrum of her health and other needs throughout her pregnancy and postpartum.
- High-risk pregnant women and those with infants under six months of age are eligible for our formal case management services.
- We also work with women who need assistance with any medical or health coverage needs, such as for abortion, cancer or other illnesses.
- We provide additional food, limited short-term housing, transportation coupons, counseling and support, clothing, a newborn welcome basket and needed supplies.
- Our greatest work, however, may be the support we provide each woman and the advocacy for her and her family’s rights to health care and other social services.
We currently see about 65 women per month in outreach and provide case management to another 20-30 women per month.
This program is currently funded through the March of Dimes to address prematurity prevention and through generous donor donations.
